A dark, branching storyline
A difficulty curve worthy of veterans
Pokémon Sardonyx: Raised to Win features a mature storyline and a very important choice that will decide where your adventure takes you. This main story is the only required arc of the game- the conventional gym challenge is present but entirely optional, and by consequence so is the Pokemon League. Furthermore, many NPCs will grant the player sidequests! While we still employ the silent protagonist Pokémon trope, choice menus grant the player at least somewhat of a personality instead of robotically saying "yes" and "no" all the time when faced with a question.
To improve gameplay balance, Normal-Type is now resistant to and hits Fairy- and Psychic-Type for Super Effective damage.
Many Pokémon now have higher stats and different abilities! Some of these are for better balance to make some Pokémon more viable, and others are to enforce the idea that some Legendary Pokémon are literal deities.
Many Pokémon also have had their stats rearranged, in order to give them more prominent specializations and better uses! Some Pokémon often considered weak may now be very useful!
A full National Pokédex
All Pokémon in the regular games will be available in Sardonyx at some point during the game! Whether they can be found in the wild, given as gifts by NPCs, or granted as Mystery Gifts, players have a huge variety of partners to choose from during the course of their adventure!
Pokémon native to Kalos and Alola may only be obtainable via the Safari Island or as gifts and prizes from NPCs.
We intend to maintain a difficulty curve similar to Pokémon Platinum Version, perhaps slightly harder. Level grinding will not save you- difficulty from NPCs such as your rivals and the Gym Leaders come from the moves and abilities of their Pokémon rather than their levels being higher than your own.
It is important to note that in some battles, your Pokémon may be (almost) permanently killed. While the full release will have a way to revive these Pokémon after the credits, we strongly encourage players to save often.
Many conventions are ignored in favor of providing the player with a better gameplay experience, both from a teambuilding perspective and ease of gameplay. For example:
-- EVs and IVs are visible on the Summary screen
-- Pokémon will follow the player
-- Hidden Machines are replaced by Key Items
-- The ALT key may be used to speed up the game at any time
-- Gyms are completely optional, with one story-important exception
-- Press V to quicksave, as well as multiple save slots
New Regional Variants and Mega Evolutions
Many Pokémon from other regions can be found in Altaris- but they're very different! These Pokémon have adapted to the harsh and hostile conditions of the region, with many becoming aggressive and more able to defend against enemies.
The non-Altaran versions of these Pokémon will be obtainable either as gifts or through the Safari Island.
